5 Foods to avoid if you struggle with incontinence

Hey readers! I am just finishing up a clinical placement at Kaiser, and after working with patients who are struggling with urinary and fecal incontinence, I have learned a few simple ways you can change your diet to address your symptoms.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When one is trying to avoid leaking accidents, there is a tendency to stop drinking water all together. Little known fact: the bladder muscle is a cranky muscle called the detrusor. It can be triggered by too much water, sure, but it can also be triggered by too little water! Be sure you drink enough water (32oz-64oz a day) to keep your detrusor muscle happy.

Though there are many more foods that could irritate your bladder, this list gives you a good place to start! Feel free to share if you have noticed other foods that increase your chances of a leaking accident.
