Bodywork Modalities

If you want to take an active role in your health and well-being, you have come to the right place. Working together, we will establish a treatment plan that is appropriate for you. I will listen to your needs and concerns and then give you some ideas to choose from. You can choose one specific modality, or ask for a medley and see what we come up with.
Traditional Thai Massage

NO OIL OR LOTION IS USED FOR THE MASSGE

(Coconut Oil is used if the Abhyanga foot sequence is requested)

Thai Massage is comes from the ‘Manual Medicine’ facet of Traditional Thai Medicine. The Thai massage I practice is based in the Northern Thailand style of massage. It is traditionally performed on a mat on the floor, but can be modified for the massage table. I use my palms, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to perform compressions, point work, range of motion, and deep stretching. The work is very slow, gently convincing your body to let go and lengthen past  percieved  boundaries.

A full-body, Traditional Thai Massage takes 2 hours.

I also have the option for a 90 minute Thai Massage if that appeals to you.

What should you wear?

You should wear comfortable clothes that you might wear to exercise or lounge around the house in. As a client, I have found that wearing yoga pants and long sleeves makes me more comfortable and helps keep me warm.

Structural Bodywork

Myofascial/Deep Tissue

BIOTONE NUTRINATURALS LOTION IS USED

(avocado and carrot extract)

If you have chronic pain or are looking for treatment based massage, this is the modality for you. We will look at the way your body is aligned (your posture) together, and determine what the root of your pain may be. I will then use various myofascial and deep tissue techniques to release the fascia and eventually allow your body to be balanced in space.

What should you wear?
For a woman, it is standard to wear a full coverage bra and underwear or shorts that are easy to move in. For a man, wearing exercise shorts or boxer briefs is standard. This type of massage involves movement from the client and sometimes getting on and off the table to see how effective the work has been in making change.

You can expect to move more freely after a structural session, though the massage itself is not a spa-style relaxation massage. This work is most effective if you come regularly (once a week for 3-5 weeks) and then determine what change has been made.

Body awareness alters postural compensations.

Bodywork simply gives the body the space in which to change.

MORE ABOUT STRUCTURAL BODYWORK

Stress Relief Relaxation Massage

BIOTONE NUTRINATURALS LOTION IS USED

(avocado & carrot extract)

Sometimes we just need to take an hour out of our busy lives and breathe. That is what this massage is about. It is a calm and safe space where you can feel free to just Be with no responsibilities. I use a gentle lotion that seeps into the skin easily so you can get back to your day without feeling sticky or oily after your massage.

This is a full body massage where each part of the body is addressed but not necessarily focused on. If you have chronic pain you would like to tackle, you may want to try a more structural approach.
