Structural Bodywork

about

'Structural' bodywork simply means that I will be looking at your structure in order to establish a massage experience that is appropriate for you. Together, we will look at how your body is constructed and how it moves through space. We will locate areas that inhibit ease of movement, and work together to create space and enhance the function or your musculoskeletal alignment.

Fascia is a continuous network that surrounds and connects most structures in the body: muscles, bones, nerves, blood vessels, organs, etc. Injury, trauma, or simply chronic tension can cause fascia to become bound, creating structural dilemmas that lead to pain and physical limitations.

The techniques used in these sessions will help release restrictions in the fascia. When the body can move through space in alignment, it is no longer fighting against gravity to stay upright.

I recommend that my clients purchase a package of 5, 7, or 9 sessions. Recurring weekly sessions allow us to focus on specific parts of the body, working from the feet up to the head and neck. After the package is complete, feel free to take a few months to assess what the work has accomplished, and what still needs to be addressed.

Techniques used include:

• Deep Tissue

• Trigger Point

• Myofascial Release

• Somatics

• Muscle Energy

• Stretching
